J. C. ULTIMATE INSURANCE

Image result for insurance definition
Many agree of the saying, "No other place like home." It is no other place like home because, it is where our family or loved ones dwell. We want to stay with them and cherish them forever. They are the most important in our lives more than anything. However, number of factors especially disease and death try to destroy this joyful experience. Death and diseases do not respect any one. They victimize anyone any time. Doctors, lawyers, and arms cannot capture and confine them into box to be locked up.

How then, can we secure our family? There are a lot of insurance companies that offer insurance that will help us to cope up with these threats in life. These insurance companies have their official offices, and websites on the internet, like:

  • Familyinsurance.com. This insurance company offers insurance like home insurance, health insurance, auto insurance, life insurance, renters insurance, and pets insurance.
  • American Family Insurance. This company offers car insurance, motorcycle insurance, homeowners insurance, boat insurance, condo insurance, renters insurance, life and business insurance.
  •  Philam Life. Its complete name is Philippine American Life and General Insurance Company.This is one of the famous life insurance companies in the Philippines and currently, the largest insurance company in the said country. This company offers numerous plans such as health, education, savings, and others.
There are more good insurance companies out there where you can join. The purpose of these companies is to help you manage the risks of relatively rare, but expensive events throughout your life such as car accident, theft or fire, and others.

Image result for crying at graveyard These insurance companies are really good for us, they have been a help for individuals and families. However, they cannot provide protection from death and accident. It is beyond their control. They cannot either return our loved ones even ourselves from death to life if we die.  Thus, separation of the members of the family and or loved ones by death still happens. Whether we like it or not, it will happen to us. Many tears have shed and still many will shed tears.

The Resurrection  of Lazarus
However, there is an insurance that can insure our lives from the power of death. Even if we die, we will still back to life, and this life is unto eternity. This insurance is available to everyone who believes. It is free and available anywhere and anytime. Just contact the Owner, Jesus Christ. He is available wherever you are. Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die" (John 11: 25, 26).

Those who accepted Jesus Christ, will experience total healing and restoration of health and life. The Apostle Paul stated in this way,
52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable,and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”    (1 Corinthians 15: 52 -54)
After the restoration of life and obtained complete healing, from perishable or corruptible (decaying) unto imperishable or incorruptible, they will be ascending up to heaven to fellowship with the heavenly hosts and the Creator. Again, Apostle exclaimed in one of his epistles, he said,
16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. (1 Thess. 4: 16 - 18).

There will be a great reunion to all who obtained insurance from the Savior. There will be no sickness, death, separations, sorrows, pains, and tears over there but eternal joy, security, and life with all the perfect eternal property which God has prepared for those who got insurance from Him.

101 BASIC PRINCIPLES OF EATING HABIT

Image result for proper eating
Education in health principles was never more needed than now. Notwithstanding the wonderful progress in so many lines relating to the comforts and conveniences of life, even to sanitary matters and to the treatment of disease, the decline in physical vigor and power of endurance is alarming. It demands the attention of all who have at heart the well-being of their fellow men.  I have here 17 guidelines to proper habit in eating to gain a better health.

1. Regularity in meals. Do not eat them early or late, but maintain a regular schedule. Your stomach is used to eating at certain times each day.
2. Moderation. Only eat as much as you need. Never over eat. Eat only to satisfy hunger.

3. Take small bites. Only put an small amount in your mouth at a time. You will chew and salivate it better, and tend to eat less at that meal.

4. Relax and eat slowly. If you are too rushed to eat, then do not eat or eat a little only. Do not be hurried, anxious, worried, fatigued, or angry.

5. Chew your food well. you will derive far more energy out of less food, if you do this.

6. Do not eat to many things at meal. Three or four items are all you need.

7. Avoid complicated mixtures. Say no to the gravies, vegetables loaves, gluten foods, and all the rest. keep your meal simple.

8. Avoid peculiar additives, such as vinegar,monosodium glutamate, etc., which only upset your stomach and slow digestion.

9. Vary you diet from meal to meal. If you ate oatmeal this morning, try rye or wheat tommorow.

10. The food should be palatable. This promote joy in eating, an emotion that boost health condition.

11. Never eat anything prepared in aluminum. Never drink water or juice out of an aluminum container. Alzheimer's is worth avoiding.

12. Aside from fresh, raw juices or the green drink, drink all your liquids between meals, not with your meals. It hinders good digestion.

13. As a rule, eat your fruits at one meal and vegetables at another. Acid fruits (such as citrus) can be eaten with either.

14. Greens have more compacted vitamins and minerals than other type of food. They only lack vitamin D, which the body can get from sunlight. But they do not have adequate amounts of trace minerals.

15. Nova Scotia dulse and Norwegian kelp (two types of seaweeds) are the only rich source of trace minerals.

16. Blackstrap molasses is the only very rich source of iron. It is also a very rich sources of choline and inositol, the two B vitamins used in the largest quantities.

17. The best pattern is to rest before the meal and walk around after it, not vice versa.

A famous health author and adviser in the 19th-century states,
Those who understand the laws of health and who are governed by principle will shun the extremes both of indulgence and of restriction. Their diet is chosen, not for the mere gratification of appetite, but for the upbuilding of the body. They seek to preserve every power in the best condition for highest service to God and man. The appetite is under the control of reason and conscience, and they are rewarded with health of body and mind. --Ministry of Healing 319 (1905).

HOW TO FACE BULLYING IN THE WORK PLACE

Image result for bully at work
Dr. Maurice Lipsedge, consultant psychiatrist at the Guy's Hospital in London, said the effects of bullying could lead to a sense of helplessness, inadequacy, confusion, anxiety, tiredness, disorganization at work, lowered self- esteem, and depression.

Image result for bully at workWorkplace of bullying is a form of violence which is rapidly becoming an everyday reality for many workers.  Not dealing with it and shrouding it in silence , however, is counterproductive. Generally, workplace bullying could be any situation when you feel singled out for unfair treatment by a boss or a colleague.

Dr. Paul Brown, director of Adaptive Research at Penna Holdings, says, "Trouble is, it takes two to be bullied. The person who is being bullied begins to feel like the coward. It's a complete invasion."
Image result for bully at work
However, there are remedies to any situation. If you feel you are being singled out or bullied at work you should not to put up with it. There are steps you can take.

Image result for diary1. keep a diary. This will give a vital record of the nature of the bullying and when it occurred. It will be important when the bullying is confronted. many of the incidents may appear trivial in isolation, so it is important to establish a pattern over a period of time.

2. Speak to the bully. A direct approach is usually the best. Tell the person that you find his behavior unacceptable and ask him to stop. This is sometimes all that is needed. Bullies do not like being confronted particularly by someone who is calm and civilized.

3. Majority of bullying goes behind closed doors, so tell a friend or work colleague about it. you may well find out you are not the only one who has suffered. It is important that you do not try to cope on your own.

4. If you are in union and there is a Union safety representative where you work, tell him what has been happening. This will be in confidence and does not mean that a formal complaint will automatically be made. A safety rep will only do what you want him or her to and will give you the advice and support you need.  He or she will want the bullying stopped quietly and quickly and can go with you to speak to the bully, or see him or her on your behalf. The safety rep will also help you with a formal complaint, if it goes that far, giving advice and support throughout the procedure.

5. Tell your manager or supervisor. Take your diary with you to back up what you have to say. Your manager or supervisor may not believe you, but you have at least told him there is a bullying problem. The more people that know, the more difficult it is for the bullying to flourish.

6. Make a formal complaint. In the end, you may have to make a formal complaint and go through the grievance procedure.

It is important to find your voice by setting out our criticism concisely and clearly and sending a copy of it to proper authorities. Stand up and be counted by requesting your human resource to spell out the organizational policy on bullying.

Some bullies are not worth the battle. Ask yourself why you would want to stay in an organization that runs on undisciplined, insecure people.

HOW TO MANAGE OUR PARENTING WITH ROD

There are reasons why parents spank their children yet, however, there are three major reasons that parents spank their children. None of these have to do with the changing of child's behaviour. These are:

1. That's the way they were treated and they don't know any better.
2. They're angry
3. They can't think of anything else to do.

A Chinese proverbs says it well: "He who strikes the first blow shows he has run out of ideas."  If parents would just clearly think through the reasons they spank, most would choose effective disciplinary methods with fewer risk factors.

Some say spanking is Biblical. Yes, however, it should be used according to what God wants to be. One common verse from the Holy Scripture is this, "Whoever spares the rod hates their children, but the one who loves their children is careful to discipline them" (Prov. 13: 24). The text tells that love should manage the rod not an anger nor just beating.

However, if you are at your wits' end, and nothing creative seems to pop up into your head, and you feel the urge to spank, please pray and then consider carefully these guidelines:

1. Spank your children only when they are willfully defying your authority and milder measures have failed.  Avoid this method when your children have acted inappropriately because they are too young or immature to know better. Don't automatically spank your children for challenging a request you have made. Willful defiance is not only reason for disobedience. Do not overuse this method.

2. Never Spank you children when you are angry. It is too easy to spank too hard or too long. There is very fine line between a hard spanking and child abuse.

3. Tell your child before whether the spanking is a one-strike, two-strike, or three strike spanking.

4. Spank to get your child's attention and impress the child of the seriousness of the offence so you can teach your child a better way. That is why spankings should come immediately after the misdeed. If you wait too long to administer a spanking, it won't be effective.

5. Make your children clearly understand the reason for the spanking. Children should be able to feel that their "punishment fits the crime." If they can understand the reason for disciplinary action, you won't have to contend with feelings of resentment or injustice.

6. Spank your children in private. It is demeaning and embarrassing to children to be disciplined in front of an audience.

7. Your children should experience enough discomfort to change their rebellious attitude. If after the spanking they slam the doors, call your names, or stare you in the eye and say defiantly,"That didn't hurt," the spanking was ineffective. Calmly repeat the spanking once or use a more effective disciplinary technique immediately. remember, reaction to pain differs in children. Those with fewer pains nerve endings won't feel the pain, so it would be better to teach them by using other methods.

Image result for time with children8. Plan a love experience after the spanking. If your child is young, take your child in your lap and rock him or her. If older, go to the child in five or 10 minutes. If the child is not yet ready to talk, return in another five minutes.Talk about pleasant things. offer your time and tenderness after such an experience will convince of your child of your love.  But be aware. If the only time children receive love is after spanking, they can come to the erroneous conclusion that to get love they have to endure pain, which sets them up to be victims of abusive relationships.

9. Consider your child age. In order for this technique to be effective, your child must be old enough to realize that this isn't your usual method of disciplining. He or she must be able to reason from cause to effect to see the justice of this type of discipline. An older child's self-worth can be shattered by a spanking. It can be a demeaning experience. It is a caution to avoid spanking before your children are 2 and after they are 8 or 9.

Image result for time with children10. Finally, the rapport you have with your children will determine whether or not you can safely use spanking as a method of shocking therapy. Diana Baumrind, a psychologist has found that spanking produces passivity, timidity, and fearful conformity when it is used impulsively by repressive, restrictive parents. But when parents are warm, responsive, flexible, and have a good rapport with their children, an occasional spanking as fair discipline is link to self- reliant, independent, and confident behavior (reported in Today's Child, November 1798).

To end this article, I want to quote Ellen G. White, a famous parenting author in the nine-century. She said,
 "Whipping may be necessary when other resorts fail, yet she should not use the rod if it is possible to avoid doing so. But if milder measures prove insufficient, punishment that will bring the child to its senses should in love be administered. Frequently one such correction will be enough for a lifetime, to show the child that he does not hold the lines of control." (Child Guidance, p. 250: 2)

HOW TO KEEP THE SABBATH DAY?

Keeping the Sabbath is something complex to numbers of Seventh-day Adventist. There are some who exclaim, “This is how to keep the Sabbath” while others say another ways on how to observe it. There are different ideas and interpretations in regard to this matter. However, the Holy Scripture did not leave us without clear truth about it.

The Holy Scripture exclaimed that Jesus is “the Lord of the Sabbath” (Matt. 12: 8; Mark 2: 28; Luke 6: 5) and He is “the way, the truth, and the life (John 14: 6). If Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath, the way and the truth, then, He is the model to follow without question.

Let us study His way on keeping the Sabbath. First, Jesus permitted and protected His disciples to pluck grains in the grain fields when His disciples got hungry (Matt. 12: 1). This kind of action was strictly prohibited in the Old Testament, especially during the Exodus, the Israelites were forbidden to go out from their tent and pick some food if there any (like Manna) (Exod. 16: 29). Actually, defiling the Sabbath during their time after the strongly repeated announcement of this command will be cut off from the people of God or be put to death (Exodus 31: 15). Hence, the Pharisee angrily reproof Christ and His disciples of what they did (Matt. 12: 2). However, Jesus answered them by pointing the priests who perform work on the Sabbath day in the Holy Temple, yet they are innocent (Matt. 12: 3). Therefore, Jesus concluded, that it is lawful to do good during Sabbath, like helping and saving life of God’s creation: animals and human being, even if it involves hard effort (Matt. 12: 10 – 12).

Image result for table of showbread in the tabernacleThe book of Mark revealed another answer of Jesus toward His critics. In Mark 2: 25, 27, He answered, “’Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.’ Then he said to them, ‘The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”

What does it meant? Sabbath was made for the welfare of man. It was made to be a blessing to man by providing the need of man: rest, food, shelter, and comfort. Here, man may glorify God! Man’s lips will proclaim, “God is so gracious and compassionate, His love endures forever!” That is why Jesus exclaimed in front of His critics, as the Lord of the Sabbath,"I desire mercy, not sacrifice..." (Matt. 12: 7). God did not make any law to burden and suffer man to keep him from his welfare.

.What is this to us now? How do we apply? If so happen that we feel hungry along the way without food in our hand, and there is a tree that has fruit available for food, we can pick or we can buy food, than to suffer of hunger during the Sabbath. Sabbath should not be a day to withhold us from our need. Ellen G. White commented, “… if fatigue and hunger attended the work, it was right to satisfy the wants of humanity even upon the Sabbath day" {Review and Herald, August 3, 1897 par. 3}

Second, Jesus commanded the crippled man to take up his bed and walked (John 5: 9). The Man with his unspeakable joy, he walked around the Jerusalem with his mat. The law mentioned in Jeremiah was strictly forbidding to carry any load during Sabbath out of your house (Jer. 17: 21, 22). Here, the Pharisees hated this thing on the Sabbath. Here, they called Jesus as law breaker and against the will of God. But remember, Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath!

The mat was a necessary for that man for his comfort at night and day. He had no home to shelter himself. Sabbath should not be a curse but a blessing!

Ellen G. White Commented,
"Jesus had lessons which he desired to give to his disciples, that when he was no longer with them, they might not be misled by the wily misrepresentations of the priests and rulers in regard to the correct observance of the Sabbath. He would remove from the Sabbath the traditions and exactions with which the priests and rulers had burdened it" {RH, August 3, 1897 par. 2}

Third, Jesus was always at work even on the Sabbath day! John 5: 17 (NIV) states,  “In his defense Jesus said to them, ‘My Father is always at his work to this very day (Sabbath), and I too am working.’” Jesus works all through the day inside or outside the Temple. Jesus did not confine Himself inside the four corners of the Temple, but rather, He went out to search the needy and meet their needs. Seventh-day Adventist should not confine themselves throughout the day inside the church only, but instead, go out to find the needy and meet their needs as well.

Worshipping God is not confined inside the walls of the church. Remember the definition of Christ on true worshipers. Jesus declared, "Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem… when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks ( NIV John 4:21, 23). God did not mention synagogue or temple but “worship the Father in spirit and truth.” God is not confined in a building made by man. We can celebrate Sabbath outside far or near the church building.

Image result for jesus and the sabbathFourth,  Self- denial & Making the Sabbath a Delight . NIV Isaiah 58:13, 14  states, "If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the LORD's holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not … speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the LORD...’ The mouth of the LORD has spoken.."

There are two principles Biblically approved for the Sabbath Keeping: Act of Necessity and Mercy. However, there two also that opposes the principles of the Sabbath keeping: Legalism and Liberalism.

Below are other commentaries from the Spirit of Prophecy for further reading.
Image result for spirit of prophecy
"Works of mercy and of necessity are no transgression of the law. God does not condemn these things.  The act of mercy and necessity in passing through a grain field, of plucking the heads of wheat, of rubbing them in their hands, and of eating to satisfy their hunger. Thus he declared himself guiltless before scribes, rulers, and priests, before the heavenly universe, before fallen angels and fallen men."  {Review and Herald, August 3, 1897 par. 4}
"The Sabbath was not to be that which the Jews had made it,--a rigorous burden and exaction, loaded down with continual additions of their own invention. By this means the day was made what Satan had been working on human minds to make it,--a grievous yoke in the place of a delight, the holy of the Lord, honorable. God gave the Sabbath to be a blessing to man; it was to be to him a memorial of God's work of creation; it was to remind him of God's sacred rest, for which reason he had "blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it."  {Review and Herald, August 3, 1897 par. 6}
"He had come to free the Sabbath from those burdensome requirements that had made it a curse instead of a blessing.  For this reason He had chosen the Sabbath upon which to perform the act of healing at Bethesda. He could have healed the sick man as well on any other day of the week; or He might simply have cured him, without bidding him bear away his bed." {Desire Ages 206.1,2}
